Yelling, dragging chairs, sirens and bells and alarms are just that - distractions; it’s not that we don’t hear or see them -we just focus on the task at hand. No rubbernecking. Focus on focusing. Cognition is not only task execution. It is maintenance of attentional integrity itself. If the emergency is real, it will assert itself without bells and whistles.

Cognitive throughput noticeably improves. Focus on the work. Sound repetitive and tiresome? Sometimes it is. Sometime nothing works at all and everything is difficult. Continue anyway.
